Trees are important, valuable and necessary to our very existence. It's not too hard to believe that, without trees we humans would not exist on this beautiful planet. Trees are the largest and longest living organisms on earth. To grow tall the tree has become a miracle of engineering and a complex chemical factory. It is able to take water and salts out of the earth and lift them up to the leaves, sometimes over 400 ft above. By means of photosynthesis the leaves combine the water and salts with carbon dioxide from the air to produce the nutrients which feed the tree. In this process, as well as wood, trees create many chemicals, seeds and fruit of great utility to man. Trees also remove carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, from the air.*

To celebrate the beginning of spring, and the coming birthday of our groups, and , we launch this project in hope to make this world a better and greener place

How can you join? There are two ways, both important for the project!!

1. Plant a tree!!</u>

The spring is coming, and that's the best time for planting trees! It is not that hard as it might seem to you. If you don't know how to do it, this tutorial might help you:

Take a photo of yourself planting the tree (or as much of yourself as you are willing to show), and submit it to the special "Art for Trees" folder in #TreeLovers' gallery. You don't have to be a member of the group to submit to this folder. You can also link to this journal in the comments, so more people get to know about it. The photo must be new, taken this year.

2. Offer art for trees!!</u>
We are looking for artists who donate a free commission for every tree planted. For every planted tree, you will receive one free commision. The artists will be assigned randomly to the "planters". (So don't be dissappointed if you don't get a picture from the person you wanted.) If you want to offer art for trees, please comment on this journal, and state how many free commissions you are willing to donate. You can also state what type of commision you would prefer to do. If there are more "planters" than artists, I will personally take care of the remaining commissions.

When you upload the art created for this project, please link to this journal in the comments. You can also submit it to the "Art for Trees" folder, even if it doesn't feature a tree.

What if you offered art, but the situation changed, and you don't have time to do it anymore? No worries! When your commission is assigned, I will first contact you with the name of the "planter", and ask if you are still interested in offering the commission. If not, another artist will be assigned. You can also note me to temporaly or permanently remove you from the list of artists.

Spread the word!</u>
Everybody who s this journal and spreads the word about it by posting a journal with a link to it, will get a feature in my journal and #TreeLovers' blog!

When does the project end?</u>
It does not! Not all people have spring right now, so the project will run all year round, as long as people are willing to plant trees and offer art!

:bulletgreen:About the Bonsai:bulletgreen:

In Japanese, bonsai can be literally translated as 'tray planting' but since originating in Asia, so many centuries ago - it has developed into a whole new form. To begin with, the tree and the pot form a single harmonious unit where the shape, texture and colour of one, compliments the other. Then the tree must be shaped. It is not enough just to plant a tree in a pot and allow nature to take its course - the result would look nothing like a tree and would look very short-lived. Every branch and twig of a bonsai is shaped or eliminated until the chosen image is achieved. From then on, the image is maintained and improved by a constant regime of pruning and trimming.

It is the art of dwarfing trees or plants and developing them into an aesthetically appealing shape by growing, pruning and training them in containers according to prescribed techniques.

Overall, bonsai is a great interest, hobby or even profession to undertake. Although famous theologians have claimed that it is actually 90% art to a meager 10% of horticulture, it has to be said that a successful bonsai is most definitely a horticultural masterpiece.

Once arriving in the Western World, this enjoyable and rewarding pastime has never turned back, and has gained a magnificently diverse range of plant material and techniques.

My first submission wouldn’t go into the Photos Folder and went into the Featured folder for some reason, I don't know why. Can you move it to the Photos of Bonsais folder instead?
